Ted boasts a career that has graced several decades in the music industry and is recognised as one of its paramount figures. Most notably, he held the position of President at Virgin EMI, leading it to become the top label in the UK for seven straight years. His journey in the music industry began in the nineties with Sony Music, where he spent around ten years building up his expertise. In 2005, Universal Music invited him to lead Island Records UK. Under Ted’s leadership, they discovered and developed numerous global stars such as Amy Winehouse, Florence & The Machine, Mumford & Sons, Paul Weller, George Michael, and Sir Tom Jones. He also played a pivotal role in launching the UK careers of artists like Drake and The Weeknd. In 2013, Ted assumed leadership of Virgin EMI within Universal Music Group. Once again, his stewardship helped the label dominate the UK charts, managing the careers of renowned artists like Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Elton John, and The Killers and launching emerging talents such as Bastille and Lewis Capaldi. His most recent venture positioned him as the President of the Hipgnosis Song Fund, responsible for over 150 of the most successful and culturally relevant song catalogues of all time with a Net Asset Value of over $3 billion.
